One of the biggest concerns for individuals with epilepsy is avoiding triggers that can lead to seizures. Flashing screens and flickering animations can profoundly and potentially dangerously impact individuals with epilepsy. These visual stimuli can trigger what is known as a photosensitive epileptic seizure, where the rapid changes in light and contrast disrupt the brain’s normal electrical activity. Unfortunately, certain website designs and content combinations can be particularly dangerous. The Seizure Safe profile makes colors more muted, stops animations and turns blinking and flashing elements off. The AI system modifies certain color combinations. These changes make it safer for seizure-prone individuals to navigate digital environments, which pose an ongoing risk to those individuals.
